As part of our ongoing “Rap’s New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist SoulisticVibe from Johannesburg to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, SoulisticVibe! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

SoulisticVibe: I decided to become an artist at the age of 16.
I was mostly influenced by my older brother. Growing up we used to listen to old school hip hop . We would record ourselves on a cassette player and create our own song. He would rap and I would create the beats.

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I do play live but I haven't given any concerts yet.

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I'm currently working on a mixtape with my crew (The Streets). The name of my mixtape is called The Streets

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Yes. Only if they reward/pay me well for my talent.
