As part of our ongoing “Rap’s New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Reubz from Cape Town to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…
Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Reubz! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?
Reubz: Without knowing it, music has always been a part of my life. Specifically rapping was always common to me growing up in the hood and coming from a disadvantaged background. I always wanted to motivate people and I believe I can cook up a lot of motivating joints. I basically want to run this game. Many rappers turned into trappers. I'm here o set the record straight because I'll always be a rapper.
The best advice I got was from my producer. He made me see rap deeply from my own point of view. And he always backs me to not hold back on my lines.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Yes, I'm working on that. This year, I want at least 2 performances. For my new track coming out now on the 10th of this month and top gadaffi coming out on the 16th of December.
