Don’t Save The Damsel

Featured artist: Damsel Is Depressed – Don't Save The Damsel

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Damsel Is Depressed.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Damsel Is Depressed: I have been writing words in notebooks since I was about six, and as I grew up I started obssesing over music, at the beginning it was never hiphop, it was Elvis Presley and the Bee Gees and a lot of trash pop , I do also recall one Busta Rhymes song I was obsessed with as well maybe when I was like 9, I was in an alternative rock band when I was like 16 and always had a thing for poetry, I first discovered freestyle way before I discovered I want to rap, maybe like 4 years ago.

it was actually yesteday a friend who is also an artist called me up because he saw I was in one of my moods again he said "Find out what it is you do that makes you unhappy and don't do it, also find out what it is that you do that fullfils you and do that" it may sound simple and obvious but it isn't and every honest emotional independent artist needs to hear that from time to time because not enough people will tell you that

What about concerts? Do you play live?

yes, my local scene is kind of dry but also on a sort of groundbreaking era, Hip Hop is relatively new here ,and most people think there is like 1 or 2 female rappers , so whenever they see a new female on the turf they freak out , I'm performing in an indie festival in about two weeks and I have a hip hop line in a local club where I bring my selection of unique souls who make amazing hiphop

Best punchline you ever wrote?

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I am currently doing a lot of collaborations, I released 6 track E.P not too long ago called 'Bra(i)nde(a)d'

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Probably not , I'll be too afraid to lose my voice . but I guess it really depends on the contract

Any last words?

Tel Aviv City , Israel , JK I don't rep nobody but the idea of freedom of thought , land is not important , doing good, thinking, constantly growing, morality, those are important . everything else is just noise. I do wanna give some shout outs to people who do amazing things in my country, 'Gido', 'Shlez' who is my buddy my best friend for some time now, 'Hotbox' an amazing local nu metal rap band whom I love to bits
Yasmin 'Jazz' Leslerot who is like my queen of rap and amazing friend.
'Tochti' 'Hasi' 'Barzel'
'Atar Mayner' he's like the best producer
'Professor Kof' a legend

and I could go on forever
GAYA TSUR has one of the best musical tastes I know and she helps me dress well. I'm sorry I'll stop now
