Featured artist: CHIEF – Best Rapper In Jamaica

As part of our ongoing “Raps New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist CHIEF from Kingston to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, CHIEF! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

CHIEF: I always loved music been writing since I was a teen so i decided to take it serious now.

Stay Up till you come up

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Yes at local events.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

….Sour Diesel Sweater Than cream pies, I Wonder if theirs a heaven for your thoughts whenever your dream dies!

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I am working on my mixtape called Ready

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Yes, the pros are you get the exposure and the equipment needed to create the quality of music you as an artist would want. Cons are the bad deal were the artist who has been working and honing his craft to perfection all these years and been taken rejection and bad criticism ends up getting less out of the deal. And ends up not receiving the proper acknowledgment he/she deserve. Labels are a big help when managed properly Bt without the Artist they have nothing.
