The new wave…

Featured artist: Cupid Valentino – The new wave..

As part of our ongoing “Rap’s New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Cupid Valentino from Houston to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Cupid Valentino! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Cupid Valentino: Since I was a baby I was in love with music, I actually took my first steps to a speaker playing some music. I really got in tune with making music when I was 12 years old with a group of my friends. We use to make music every day after school and one of there cribs and formed a group called "TYG".We performed at schools & talent show and after that I developed a more passion for music and I knew that I wanted to be a entertainer.

The best advice that was giving to me was to stay consistent and ride your own wave; be yourself.

Cupid Valentino

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I use to put together parties around the city and use to be the MC for the party while my brother was the DJ and every time I held the mic it felt like a concert in the building.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

I'll cut it up like a deck of cards or I can split the line up like Cupid V with 2 different broads

Cupid Valentino

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

Right now I'm working on my EP with a few other things I have going on with my other ventures in other areas so this is going to be a very busy and active year

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would rather partner with a record label right now. I would continue running under my own Indie label and get the indie label a contract rather myself as a artist. The pros of being on a major label are outstanding for some artist and can benefit some one that doesn't have any backing. They help with a lot of things not to get in detail with that but they also take a lot more money out for all the work they do.

Any last words?

One time for SMOKETOWN

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Bam-Beaboutmoney! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Bam-Beaboutmoney: My love for music and the culture of hip-hop has lead me down this path to be the best musician I can possibly be.

Never compare your success to another artists success. We can all reach our goals but our stories and achievements will be in different timing.

Bam-Beaboutmoney

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I've done a multitude of open mics, scheduled shows, paid to perform. You name it ! Almost every show was a different experience as well as a learning curve.

I'm currently working on a new album. I also have a mixtape(Critical Condition) on datpiff as well as my latest project (Idolized Conversation) on all streaming platforms.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Maybe .. Independent artist that are knowledgeable to the industry really don't need a label anymore. I'd rather have control of when my albums going to drop and what color socks I'm wearing on certain days. On the other hand labels have the connections and unlimited money for marketing and promo which is key for certain artist

Life Is A Gamble

Featured artist: TheCasinoLife – Life Is A Gamble

As part of our ongoing “Rap’s New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist TheCasinoLife from Queens to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, TheCasinoLife! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

TheCasinoLife: As a child, I use to listen to the radio nonstop. I would go online & print out the lyrics to my favorite songs so that I can know them all. Eventually, I began writing myself & as time went on, my love for music just grew & i couldn’t turn away

Live my truth. If i own up to all my flaws, no one can tell me anything about myself. I’d rather live my life like an open book than to have the next person try to expose me & i have to deal with the backlash that follows.

TheCasinoLife

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I have performed live & its an amazing feeling. I’ve always been the class clown so being the center of attention has never bothered me

Best punchline you ever wrote?

That’s a hard one because i have so many but i guess i’ll go with “you lose focus hypnotized by these bitches. The way my camp concentrates, not even hitler can kill us”

TheCasinoLife

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I just released my project ‘For Better Or Worse’ On November 30th. It’s currently available on all major platforms such as Apple, Spotify, Tidal, Amazon, etc. However I’m currently working on my new EP which will drop this spring & my next full length project should be out by Halloween

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would love to sign to a major. Signing a major deal only becomes an issue when you’re not aware of the business aspect of the industry. Some rappers dont feel the need to Educate themselves until it’s too late. Ain’t no label gon fuck me over. Believe me when i say that deadass

Any last words?

Of course much love to NYC. Queens i love y’all. Shoutout to all the homies. From OTM, TBE, Rotten Apple, VOT, & Archer Mob. SBz for Life !

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Ejypt! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Ejypt: As a kid I always used to freestyle with my boys, or have “roast battles”. I never thought to take it a step further until one day a close friend of mine set up a mini studio in their apartment bathroom where I record my first single Don’t Touch. In a weeks time I had thousands of streams on that song and knew I couldn’t stop there!

Don’t let the game change you, you change the game

Is this the future of millennial music?

Featured artist: Koty Rocks – Is this the future of millennial music?

As part of our ongoing “Rap’s New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Koty Rocks from Oceanside to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Koty Rocks! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Koty Rocks: I’ve always loved music but never even considered becoming an artist until I first got locked up and I met this guy named Richie & I’ll never forget this guy because he had a giant crooked THUG LIFE tattooed across his neck, I remember it was like the second week of being incarcerated and he must have seen me looking depressed about my situation so he sat down and we talked for a bit then he gave me a book called the alchemist & I remember going back to my cell and reading that entire book that night & when I finished something changed in me, I truly believed that anything I wanted to achieve I could manifest. When I got out I was on house arrest so I just spent hours making music to get out of my head and eventually dropped my first song and everyone liked it, that’s when I decided that’s what I wanted to do with my life

The best advice I would give another artist is to sit down and try to focus on your end game for an entire 10 minutes a day without any distractions, no cellphones or tv’s just you in a silent room. Try to paint a clear picture of where you want to be in your head & your mind will slowly help make it your reality.

Koty Rocks

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I’ve done a few shows in Vegas, Memphis & Cali but nothing major yet.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I definitely see myself signing to a label in the future, i think it would be a positive thing, I’d rather have a small portion of something with value than a lot of something with no value. Plus the exposure a big label brings the artist is priceless!

Plan In Motion

Featured artist: Merc The Phoenix – Plan In Motion

As part of our ongoing “Rap’s New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Merc The Phoenix from Killeen to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Merc The Phoenix! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Merc The Phoenix: Well i grew up listening to my father play oldschool music every sunday. I still remember back in high school having friends and other guys beat box, tap on the cafeteria lunch tables making beats and rapping. Then once i did my first main song called How Many which was the song that got us invited to atlanta with Loud Ent. I was hooked. Till this day its my form of therapy.

The best advice i was given was, really a statement. I was told back in the early 2000's if you want to record everyday, then how about you get your own studio? Since then i started with the programs garage band, to sonar, to having almost every version of protools. Which has giving me unlimited axcess and freedom to create anything at anytime when i feel inspired to get in the studio.

Merc The Phoenix

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Yes, i do live concerts and shows. I still remember the first show i performed at was in atlanta georga, My crew and I was invited by Loud Ent.to travel from Texas and open up for Triple Six Mafia. Soon after we were opening up for TI, and Little FliP. these were the times before they began having their beef.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Always have a plan, if you dont plan you have already planned to fail. So, whatever plan you do have put your "Plan In Motion".

Merc The Phoenix

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

currently i just finished up two new projects. One a new LP or so called Mixtape called The Limits that will be released next month in febuary. Second the full album called "Plan In Motion" that will be released in march 2019. The first single Feel Alive is already out and available at our home website. http://www.werpmoney.com

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

To me signing with a major label means, do you want to become famous or do you want to become rich. Yes a label wlll get you out there, pay for marketing, travel, studio time, features, etc. But with that they will take a certain %, so if your CD or Album hits the stores for $17.99 you may only see 3-4$ per CD sold.
Now being independent if your CD's are being sold at $17.99 you get to control and keep the full 100% but then how many people or fans actually know you even exist?
So my thought would be if you do sign with a major label find a deal or aggrement that you can give them at tops 2 years of your time. Then once your 2 years are up, you can leave, take your fans and show them what you have to offer independently.

Any last words?

The first shout outs would be to my mother and father for being extreem great supporters for vision in making music. My first crew the commish which till this day i call them my brothers 20+ years deep. All the artists I've worked with. I even would like to shout out the haters, and the people that has tried to stop me. They may not realize that one of my motivations is proving someone wrong. If you say i can’t do it, then i will make sure it gets done.

Exclusive zayy: I have always wanted to be in artist As soon as I started listening to Michael Jackson and chris brown and meek mill i knew that I had to give it a shot. I started entering chorus and school and really trying to make mine own music and one day my friend took me to the studio and I figured out I was versatile I can sing and rap and he told me I had a gift and I should really use it cause I could be famous and from that point on I put in hard work everyday to get where I am on my own to provide for me and family and other and I know that my music could change that.

Best advice given to me is from Luke James and he told me to never give up on my dreams.
And ever since then I have always kept that in mind before I do a song in the studio and after in life itself.

Local Kentucky Artist Creating Grunge & Rap

Featured artist: Ciego is Dead – Local Kentucky Artist Creating Grunge & Rap

As part of our ongoing “Rap’s New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Ciego is Dead from Munfordville to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Ciego is Dead! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Ciego is Dead: I think music is a way of expression.
Music is the voice for those who want people to listen, but have no one to tell.
I started doing music because I wanted a voice.

Let them think you failed and keep going right under their noses.

Ciego is Dead

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I would like to start doing live shows, although any chance I get, I participate in local contests, etc.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

I'm not good at punchlines.
How about a hitline instead?

Ciego is Dead

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I'm not working on anything new at the moment, only releasing a few covers of songs here and there.
I have about four or five original songs out under Ciego.
I started a new YouTube channel under my name, Nate Hawkins.
You can check that out my newest song on there.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Yes!
I'd sign with a major label, only if I get an accurate amount of revenue for my work.
The bad part is, you don't own it, and they could screw me over.
The good part is, they could help me with my dreams.

Any last words?

I represent me, and those without a voice.
Not a city, me.

A Star Emerged

Featured artist: Star UTG – A Star Emerged

As part of our ongoing “Rap’s New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Star UTG from St. Louis to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Star UTG! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Star UTG: I decided to become an artist at an earlier age when I visited my brother out of state and his friend was and artist going to the studio on the regular. This friend had albums he were selling and even featured my cousin on a song and that was cool to me. I felt I could rap better than this friend and wanted to join the music world myself.-

The best advice I received was to keep making music and performing because there will always be a hand full of people that will not want to see you advance in your career whether you know them or not.

Star UTG

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I perform at concerts often with the opportunities to perform in Texas, Ohio, Illinois, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

“There’s no bunk beds for a coffin so I’m all alone. I flip the bird like my finger, so I stand alone.”

Star UTG

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I have 2 projects in the past out on all music streaming platforms called “The World Will Know My Name” and “Spaced Out.” Current I am about to release a collaboration album with a fellow R&B artist that have great vibes and energy.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

No. I would like to stay independent and have more control of my music. The pros are more promotion and exposure but with the hard work and dedication, I feel that I can achieve that goal on my own.

Any last words?

I would like to shout out St. Louis, MO and my team KruLif3, a city and team that keeps me motivated and help me stay humble and grounded.
