As part of our ongoing “Raps New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist No Limit Jbird to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…
How did you decide to become an artist?
No Limit Jbird: As a kid music was a big part of my life. I used to think I was Michael Jackson. My mother was working nights, I would write on a piece of paper the cities and dates …I was on tour..lol. I would perform songs from his 'Bad' & 'Thriller' Album in front of my sister and little cousins. As I got older I started to listen to rap music. Too Short, N.W.A., Public Enemy, Mc Shan, Dougie Fresh. Snoop Dogg, & Dr.Dre. My junior year of high school, my best friend Randy Dixion (RIP). Brought a video to school … the video contained…someone & something that would change my mind and inspire my to do and become who i am today. Master P's Ice Cream Man Video started playing…..that was 1996. I tried my hand at rapping, but never liked to hear my voice. I eventually decided to just study and learn the business part of the Music Industry. Now I'm a artist manager & online promoter. I have my own company Bird's Eye View Management & Promotions. I have several artist signed under my management. I run online promo for anything No Limit, Tru Muscle Entertainment (BigCourt), ShockerWorldEnt (SilkkTheShocker) & Bird's Eye View. So Im pretty busy, and is enjoying it to the fullest…..Being a Artist Manager.
Master P , Big Court & Silkk all have told me to follow my dreams and never give up. I tell my artist the same thing. I also tell them that nothing is free, nothing is given…but hard work payoff. Outwork the next person is the key.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Being that I'm connected to No limit, TME, & ShockerWorld yes. There is always a show somewhere in the country and abroad.
