As part of our ongoing “Raps New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Kula Voncille from Richmond to talk about her recent music, her upcoming projects, her career advice and her overall experiences being in the music industry and she did not disappoint…
Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Kula Voncille! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?
Kula Voncille: I have been rhyming since high school but it wasn't until 5 years ago I decided to take my art seriously. My daughter, Phoenix, was the reason I decided to pursue my dreams.
The best advice I was given was not to have expectations and to be ready for the rejection. Also, as an artist you need to addicted to ya struggle and overcoming every obstacle.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I do play live and I make sure that I have show cut with at all times. i do not like rhyming over my vocals. I also do an Indie Artist Showcase on FB live every Thursday.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Whenever someone says something to me thats far fetched I say…..SHITTIN ME!
