Featured artist: Slick L Fresh – Slickage Time

As part of our ongoing “Raps New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Slick L Fresh from Sheffield, UK to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Slick L Fresh! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Slick L Fresh: I was listening to the likes of Eminem, 50 Cent, Tupac, Biggie, Wu Tang Clan, NWA ect. Then next thing I know I fell in love with music and decided to try writing lyrics so I started from a young age but didn't get serious until I was 22 as at that age music saved me!

Always keep it real, talk about things you don't know about the listeners will turn on you!

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Yes I do perform live, I am currently looking for venues to perform at as we speak some venues give me the cold shoulder though but hell they need to know I'll keep pushing to get the venues I want basically they're going to have to say something about it.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Time to crunch rhymes like its lunch time with punch lines at break time my fun time

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I'm ready to release a EP called Demonized EP which is out on 18/11/18 but already working on my debut album and even a double album with my brother MDP.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

No, I'm underground and proud to be underground. Personally I think it's better to run your own record company then to sign up to a major label, depends on the type of artist you are, me, on the other hand like my freedom.

Any last words?

Hell yeah I want to give a massive shout out to my Illumni family, 25 To Life Records, Slickage Records, Soljaz Stampede, Momma T, Nick Knox, Johnny Sprenz, Ashby, Tekoa Lion, Shea Barz, Lady Rush, Global Family, Demo, Abstain Records also my mum and partner too… Damn to everyone who has supported me, sorry if I've missed anyone!
