Featured artist: LadyJ Movement – GET INTO DMV LYRICIST LADYJ
As part of our ongoing “Rap’s New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist LadyJ Movement from Alexandria to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…
Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, LadyJ Movement! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?
LadyJ Movement: decide to become an artist the first time I performed live. I started as a beat-Hooper, free style kid. Then over the years I learned how to write a rap song. Writhing was never a chanllege for me in school Engish was my favorite subject, poetry, essays came easy for me. I used to do other peoples work growing up for candy. The first time I had to write a song was something different for me, turned into a good theory and build more energy for me wanting to be heard, play with my lyrics once I was offered to perform I know someone liked my creation, I wanted more to know who I was and what I had to say through music.
"Never doubt yourself"
"Life is like rocks dust them off and see diamonds"
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I love to perform live it's my best therapy. The crowd is into my music, rush to talk to me and tell me what they liked, get my information thats the best natural high anyone could experience. I also coordinate fashion shows for local models, designers and artist, I love every minute of it to get everyone together, help them get closer to their dream is priceless.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
I support all movements if your speaking to me
