Purging the depression

Featured artist: Ohxzy – Purging the depression

As part of our ongoing “Raps New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Ohxzy from Cambridge UK to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Ohxzy! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Ohxzy: I became an artist by venting about my problems on SoundCloud, I have been writing for about 4 years although only started recording 2 years later after buying a blue snowball mic and a MacBook, which I’ve recorded nearly everything on

Don’t focus on the views, focus on the support, focus on the people that like the song and bump it, it doesn’t matter if you have 200,000 views if only 1 person actually listens to the song more than once

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I play live sometimes in cities around me but nothing on a major scale, plus it is always with other rappers and support acts

Best punchline you ever wrote?

I’d rather serve crack then serve my country

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I’ve released an ep called “Heartbreak Diaries” which is about heartbreak if you couldn’t guess, I’m now working on making my own sub genres and new styles instead of fitting into a box

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would sign although I enjoy the freedom of having. No deadlines and making my own music, but contracts are a big push in being heard so yeh I probably would

Any last words?
