Featured artist: Dosage Vepz – Tap into 'Dosage Vepz'

As part of our ongoing “Raps New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Dosage Vepz to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

How did you decide to become an artist?

Dosage Vepz: 2005 in high-school I was influenced by the art of rhythm and poetry (RAP) before I began to be an artist, and by then it was just my learning path. The experienced I had emerged automatically in 2014 when I started to work on my first EP featuring various local artists around my city and an international collaboration with a Russian female rapper from the United States/Las Vegas known by her stage-name 'Miss Lady Shadow'.

Love what you do by heart to earn a positive result you deserve.

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Yes I do.
As a rapper, vocalist, producer and songwriter, my favorite activity in music has always been working on presentations. So performing live and interacting with fans has always been the most comfortable space to free myself.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Fire in my energy, no enemy tough, got them like a battery that lacking these bars.

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

Currently I am working on designing and producing content for my upcoming events.
I have started conceptualizing and composing my 2019 first album ever.

My previous release is 3 projects and singles.
– 2014 I dropped an EP entitled 'Nibiru' with 10 tracks included.
– 2015 I had two single extending my set.
– 2017 I provided the locals with a mix-tape 'ANU' compilation of 9 track as a limited edition.
– 2018 I then released my second EP 'Spaceship' followed by two new singles.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Yes I would depending on the benefits fairly measured by my work scale.

I always never pictured myself being an independent artist forever, due to being young and being on the verge "I can do this on my own if I learn how it is done" type of mindset.

Growing up I have released that owning big cooperate resources for an excellent outcome to music and visuals requires more financial strategy standards which I fail to do on my own.

My biggest fear about signing to a major label is that will I still be able to do the music from heart, or am I going to be on the cliche platform where the production management enforces me to be what sells for them?

Any last words?

hahahaha…! I am not good at this but…
Shoutout to every artist in the Vaal & South Africa working hard, more especially that have a heart for it, people that support my music (locally and internationally), my friends, family and Bohlokwa.
