Featured artist: JAYYSKYY – Houston Artist raps New Religion

As part of our ongoing “Rap’s New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist JAYYSKYY from Houston to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, JAYYSKYY! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

JAYYSKYY: I wrote my first rhyme at the kitchen table when I was 11 or 12 I think I was supposed to be doing my times tables or something I sat there for a few hours and composed most of what would be my first song I think it was called “ball all day” from that day forward I was a artist .

Never give up if u have a passion about your music and your dream never stop even if it takes 20 years.

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I have been playing live shows since 2009 all over the south .

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Free ya pineal !!!

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I just released a single on all streaming platforms entitled “New Religion ” it is the first release off my upcoming EP Dreamers Disease .

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

At this point in my career it would be hard for me to fully sign to a major label with our all of my creative control I’m so self sufficient that I only really need the label for one thing “money”

Any last words?

I love Houston I will always love it !!

Where can people follow you to stay up-to-date?
