BREAKing waves and molds in rap

Featured artist: BREAKtheArtist – BREAKing waves and molds in rap

As part of our ongoing “Rap’s New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist BREAKtheArtist from Greenville to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, BREAKtheArtist! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

BREAKtheArtist: Music has been a passion of mine since I was a kid. I was often writing poems and songs in my free time. I love sharing myself and my stories through my music. Music is art, and art is powerful. During dark times in my life I feel like all I really have is my notebook and the music of my favorite artists. Music has uplifted me in ways I cannot fully express and I hope that through my music I can uplift others as well.

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I have only performed live once. I hope to get some more gigs in the future.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

If you ever low with no hope in sight, know shadows exist only when there's light.

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I am currently working on a mixtape. It will be dropping on my SoundCloud soon! I have released music in the past as well. Check out my Soundcloud for my most recent and older music. One of my recent songs "BABA SEER" is on all streaming platforms.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would sign to a major label. The pro are I would not have to worry about all the time, effort, and money it takes to promote as an indie artist, I would have access to A1 studios, and I could make a living living my dream. I cannot really think of any cons as long as I have some freedom with my music.

Any last words?

Shoutout to everyone who's working with me on my soon to be released mixtape!

Where can people follow you to stay up-to-date?
