Featured artist: Holy Grind – The waking of ages

As part of our ongoing “Rap’s New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Holy Grind from Chicago to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Holy Grind! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Holy Grind: I didn't choose to be an artist, artistry chose me! It's my calling to reach out to the masses.

"Never base your success off of another man's success"

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I released a mixtape 3yrs ago called "From Gutta 2 God", Ireleased an album earlier this year called "Swear To God" with two videos to highlight project "Redemption" & "Stand Up".
I'm Presently putting finishing touches on next project "Red Life District" which I have released 2 singles for "In My Feelings Too" & "Whewww".

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Signing with a major label is always an option as long as they understand I presently own all my music and they're willing to negotiate as such.
The pros to it is bigger promotion and access to a larger audience to get my message across. The coins are that I know I'll have to sacrifice something to make it beneficial to them.

Any last words?

1st wanna thank GOD for blessing me, gifting me & prepping me. Shout out to Maywood my hometown, Chicago who been rockin with me hard & #STV1(the red team), Special shout out to my wife & kids, my ENTIRE family (in-laws included), my sis Jamay, prophet Brown, 2kTrinity, Paige2, Hobart, 13th Positve, the dopest producer I know "Phvze" & Rapbeats for the love.
