Featured artist: AKA Peckerwood – jayroberts2112@yahoo.com

As part of our ongoing “Rap’s New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist AKA Peckerwood from Fond du Lac to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, AKA Peckerwood! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

AKA Peckerwood: I grew up in a musical family. When I was 14 my cousin let me join in his band onstage to sing Lynyrd Skynyrd's Sweet Home Alabama. I was hooked. From there I jammed in a basement band with my brother who played drums. Music has always been an escape for me and helped me get through the bad times.

Promote your songs everywhere you can.

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I have been lucky enough to do some shows with some great bands while in my rock and roll days. Soil, Bobaflex, Drowning Pool to name a few. With the new AKA Peckerwood album coming out I plan to play a lot of shows in 2019 in the Midwest area and am currently working with quite a few promotion agencies assisting me with this. Great people.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Horns Up!

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I am working on some songs with a few other underground artists. Also, currently working on some songs I wrote when I was with Revolution X. Black Soul and Good Riddance. A more EDM vibe than the Rock n Roll style they were originally written yet still heavy. You can bounce to it. Bang your head. Throw the horns up. I am lucky enough to have my own studio able to lay down tracks whenever the mood hits.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

If I could keep my originality and not have to sugar coat my music. The pros are obviously having a great promotions team and being able to do big tours and shows. The con would be being on the road away from family.

Any last words?
