Say No Mas

Featured artist: Romey McFly – Say No Mas

As part of our ongoing “Raps New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Romey McFly from Riverside to talk about his recent music, his upcoming projects, his career advice and his overall experiences being in the music industry and he did not disappoint…

Thanks for taking the time to talk with us, Romey McFly! Let’s go back to the beginning of your career. How did you decide to become an artist?

Romey McFly: Music & performing have been in my soul since I was a youth. I believe it's what separates us from the animals- the ability to create & enjoy art. Also, being raised in the south, mid-west, west, & east coasts, I was exposed to a lot of different music, a lot of different styles, & I love them all. So now that I am creating my own, you'll hear the different styles, often mixed to create a unique sound that you'll love.

Keep doin it- don't let a lack of support from your "homies" slow you down. The people that you know will rarely be the ones to become fans.

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I absolutely do live shows. I love to do live shows- & I make sure that everybody thats there for me is having as much fun as I am. We ALL litty out here.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Nobody told me that I cant win, it's like God tryna tell me that I cant sin. But I got free will & I blame Him. So a nigga been chill since I came in…

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

Currently wrapping up an EP entitled "Still Building" which is a few songs that had been done, but never officially released. It'll be available on all platforms. Not that many songs, but they're all really different. Kind of showcasing my versatility. Also planning a video for this project, but outside of that I'm actually working on my 2nd project entitled "Free Rome the World" which will have all new original tracks. All slaps.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would as long as they not getting over on me. I really just want to make good music. Id rather stay indie, but we all have to start somewhere.

Any last words?

Shoutout to the WHOLE INLAND EMPIRE! All of Riverside & San Bernardino counties. All the 951 & the 909. THE WHOLE THE NINA!
