Triple Threat

Featured artist: Minx Couture –  Triple Threat

As part of our ongoing “Raps New Generation” series, today we sat down with the upcoming underground artist Minx Couture to talk about her recent music, her upcoming projects, her career advice and her overall experiences being in the music industry and she did not disappoint…

How did you decide to become an artist?

Minx Couture: I’ve always been an artist. I just never had the tools or the confidence to pursue it. I set forth to learn and hone my skills in making beats and writing to them. I said to myself that I didn’t need a team, a team needed me.

What was the best advice given to you as an artist?

To stay true to myself and to stay real to the art of music. Don’t change with the times because that’s what’s “in” just manipulate the time.

What about concerts? Do you play live?

One of my dreams is to literally create a song on stage with my fans. Just an entire show making a song. That would be so unique. Every single song would then be an album they made with me.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

I’m not a human being, I’m just being human, I know that sounds confusing…

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I am getting ready to release my second fully produced album. The first one was very dark and angry. This one I just calmed down the mood with similar messages. I think I chin checked enough people and got the attention I needed as a beat maker.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

No. I think remaining independent keeps you closer to your fans and better control of your craft. Label’s only see dollar signs, not the artist. Artist’s then lose themselves and the initial vision as to why they became artists. They then become the cash cow. I don’t like that.

Any last words?

I give a shout out to all my haters and naysayers. All the time. They are the reason, my fuel. I absorb their energy and create something beautiful out of it.
