Featured artist: Kayman – Update on Kayman

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Kayman.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Kayman: When I heard one of my older brothers rap.

Do not expect to make money off your music overnight. Second, step outside of the internet to some networking tried to play some open mics and shows. The last, don't always think everyone will like your music.

Kayman

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I play live at some open mics in and out of Durham. I did get involve in a few showcase and I did perform at one of the artist I know release party.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

I keep it real that's part of my field/ I don't entertain anyone to get a record deal

Kayman

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I am not working on anything right now. I just release my new mixtape called "BR2 (The Black Rose 2)." I have release mixtape called "No Written" last year, so I just trying to promote my new music and keep working on some new material.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would sign with Roc Nation, Dreamville, and any record label that will not let no one control what I put out. My issue some record labels might want me to change my imagine and talk about certain things. The pros I can make music people can relate to without no problem.

Storytelling Type Christian Rapper

Featured artist: Jnoyz Redeemed – Storytelling Type Christian Rapper

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Jnoyz Redeemed.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Jnoyz Redeemed: I actually learned that rap was a genre only about 5 years ago. As soon as I was exposed to it, I knew that I could rap. I started just messing around and 2 years later decided to pursue it.

There are many new artists out there. What makes you different? What are you gonna do to stand out from the crowd?

Jnoyz Redeemed

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I currently do not play live or do concerts. I am seeking to add that starting May 2021

Best punchline you ever wrote?

I keep it real.

Jnoyz Redeemed

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I am currently working on some professional development and bettering myself as an artist. Gotta start from the ground up, so that's what I'm doing. I have released my first album, The Cycle Mixtape, in 2016.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would sign a major label record contract. I would do it if I needed to, but I don't like all the strings that are usually attached. It can boost your career, especially if the label has some well known artist who can endorse you or you can piggyback on, but there is always a catch.

Any last words?

I'd like to give a shoutout to The Extreme Tour – when I was in Nashville for Objective 2016, you guys taught me a lot about being an artist and what really matters. Thanks. Also a shoutout to Noah – when you got on fire, there wasn't no stopping you. And others who have added to my music, whether they know it or not.

The rise of BabyFace Nelson

Featured artist: Mic Milli – The rise of BabyFace Nelson

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Mic Milli.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Mic Milli: I've always known I wanted to be an artist. From the age of 13 I knew I wanted to do music. Some people Ponder the meaning of life; I don't have that problem.

The best advice given to me was by T.I. he told me perfect our craft because getting signed is the easy part..

Mic Milli

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Yes I do perform live. I've done shows in Atlanta Mississippi Kentucky and Tennessee.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

It's the Return of the incredible/like peanuts to an elephant don't see you cuz you're miniscule/pull you under out of nowhere like a tentacle /Mortal Kombat flow n**** now I finish you.

Mic Milli

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

The project I am currently promoting is Baby Face Nelson. BabyFaceNelson is a name my Uncle and Cousin used to call me when I was 6 or 7 years old just messing around. When they passed I thought it would be a good way to honor them.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would sign a record label if approached with the right deal everyone needs a machine to push them I don't care how great you are. The pros and cons to today's business is that no one is really selling records anymore; you make all of your money off of the shows and merchandise. So an artist spends most of his time recording looking for that next hit. It used to be when you came up with the dope project you could possibly shop it or sell it out of the trunk. Now you have to release it for free.

Any last words?

Yeah I wanna shout out my Lord and savior Jesus Christ. I wanna shout out my wife Chundra who's been by my side from the beginning. My camera man and producer ABC. My group Random Shots and homie orange mound LBo.
