Featured artist: King Jalaw – King Jalaw from START to END
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist King Jalaw.
How did you decide to become an artist?
King Jalaw: I always used to sing and dance as a little kid. My older brother 35 Juany sang everywhere he went so I would follow suit. After later hearing his first CD I wanted to become a rapper and performer. I started writing for a few years then met some friends who wanted to make music too. We would get good feed back from classmates and audiences at performances so we invested any money we could get into equipment and then slowly taught ourselves how to record, edit vocals, then eventually produce beats too.
The best advice given to me as an artist was to keep writing. People always complimented how well I put words together and the way they flow. By always constantly working on that I was introduced to other opportunities and portions of music I fell in love with. By never settling for nothing but my best when I write I seem to impress most of the people introduced to my music. And without always focusing so hard on song writing structure and flows I would have never started producing my own compositions to perfectly compliment lyrics and flows.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I'm currently doing weekly live performances at local clubs and open mics in Ohio.
