Featured artist: Lenny Nostra – A Tour into Nostra's World

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Lenny Nostra.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Lenny Nostra: Since I was very young, I was always around music . My grandfather was a Dj playing all over the Dominican Republic playing Latin music . My oldest uncle played the guitar and very masterful at his craft. When I was 12 my brother started rapping . I thought it was so cool and wanted to be like him so much so I started writing ever since .

If you can dream it. You can achieve it. Grind everyday and don't sleep, put great effort in all you do and you will see marvelous results

Lenny Nostra

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I love going live and doing concerts. It makes me feel alive and also interact with different people. I'm not gonna lie, I'm always nervous before I get on stage I'm always pacing and freaking out because I think ima mess up, but when that beat drop, I'm back to beast mode

Best punchline you ever wrote?

It's no surprise I got Gucci shades for my eyes and my wrist wear bluer then the sky . Now I see why, bitties joe me like G.I. I guess now one gotta swagger like mine T.I.

Lenny Nostra

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

Right now I'm just finishing up my latest project called Nostradamus . Nostradamus is probably one of MY most personal project to date. It really talks about all my current situation

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

No, in this day in age everything is digital . You're your own marketing company . You just need to distribute and market yourself well to get exposure

Any last words?

Shout out to Brooklyn for making me and Philly for raising me. R&H records , R&H everything . Rik lennon for having the confidence in me. H ty james, my bff Nawaal Anderson for always having my back, my kids for pushing me , Seni my "Cuban cousin" and my whole team for the support

SOSA WORLD

Featured artist: Greedy Sosa – SOSA WORLD

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Greedy Sosa.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Greedy Sosa: I had a passion for music my whole life, I decided to take it serious as a artist in 2012.I sat back a few years learning some of the business side of the music. 2016 I felt like I was ready to attack and I have been going strong every since.

To always stay on my 5Ps meaning (proper, preparation, prevents, poor, performance! I was told to make every play a impact play!

Greedy Sosa

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Yes I do play live and feel like I bring a raw energy to stage! I haven't performed a concert so far but it's in the making as we speak.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Fuck the hype, I'm so dope you can cut me with soda and drop me in the bag!

Greedy Sosa

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I am currently working on my first solo project, titled "SOSA WORLD" no release date yet.I have features from Flict Ferarri (conflict), Joebarly, and more. I am working on "Tony and Sosa Reloaded" dropping in May! I am also working on EP titled "#REAL MOB" and also my own clothing brand! I am also featured on upcoming Mixtape "ATLABAMA vol. 2" hosted by Xsquad DJs Blackice Ent. I have released projects like "Tony and Sosa DA Mixtape", single "MIAMI NIGHTS", and the "STEM PACK the Mixtape".

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would but it would depend on what label, and percentages. I think the pros are if your a conditioned enough artist and have business in order and buzz big enough and a full team other than the major label it's a win!.) I think some of the con's are when you sign this major contract and you don't know the business or don't have a team of your own it could be huge risk!

Any last words?

I would like to thank god for keeping me so far and putting me in a position to make something positive of what is normally a negative, and destructive situation. I would like to shout out YO MONTANA for seeing and believing in my vision before anyone else was able to! My label DMC (Derty Money Cartel), BIG BLOCK, ALL MY SUPPORTERS, MONTGOMERY STAND UP!

Film maker, creative director and dancer

Featured artist: ZOE – Film maker, creative director and dancer

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist ZOE.

How did you decide to become an artist?

ZOE: I didn't really decide to become an artist; it's something that chased me and I didn't have much choices than be who I am

I always listened to a lot of people and their advices and prospectives influenced me a lot but at some point I really decided to listen to myself only. However I guess the best advice was to believe in what I do, to keep doing it being truly myself.

ZOE

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Nope I'm not a musician but I dance live with live music. For now only small performances but I'm open to everything.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

I don't talk about it, be about it

ZOE

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I have just finished to direct and edit a new music video for the female MC Cipherella. It's a real master piece; I collaborated with a great cinematographer and talented set designer.
Since I got to NYC I have been producing tons of videos, promoting many indie rappers and artists in general.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I'm not a rapper and I don't know if you are interested in myself anyway but I received a message in Instagram to fill this up. Hope I didn't waste my time and yours 🙂 Thanks for the opportunity!

Any last words?

I am representing myself but sure I miss my Italian people sometime, definitely their smart eclectic vibes.

She’s ‘Pretty’ much everything in 1

Featured artist: PrettybLack – She's 'Pretty' much everything in 1

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist PrettybLack.

How did you decide to become an artist?

PrettybLack: I decided I wanted to be involved with music at a very young age. At the age of 8 years, I was in love with R&B, so I would write and sing songs to my own made up beats. Back then all you needed was a radio and a cassette player and you could record yourself at home lol. At that time I would incorporate a little rap here and there. 90s R&B was a huge influence on my decision to want to be an artist. It was more prominent back. Even to the point where hip hop/rap artists would have to feature on R&B records for promo, etc, however, today the roles have reversed. As I got older, I realized I had a thing for writing, whether poems or songs but, i no longer wanted to sing and that's what birthed PrettybLack ..the femcee.

The best advice given to me as an artist would have to be " Give the your audience what they want but not at the expense of altering your creativity".

PrettybLack

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Yes, I do perform live and give "mini" showcases. My next goal to accomplish is to perform in front of a bigger audience. For my area, I want to perform at the Shaggfest which is great for indie artists in my area. It can definitely help with more exposure opportunities.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

"Understand..Comprende..Kapeesh? Im going Ludacris ..Im Disturbing the Peace/ Been on my Beauty shit but they brought out the Beast/ Evicting rap hoes like they not on the Lease"

PrettybLack

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I am currently working on my Freshman album titled "Uninvited Guest". It will have a very small amount of feature because i want to showcase "my" art first and foremost…especially when this will be my first official project. In the past, I released a mixtape called "The Girl Next Door". That was merely a test run to see how a compilation of my music would sound…in my own ears. my album is still being worked on and should be released late Spring…early Summer.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would sign a record contract with a major label but with stipulations. The terms would have to fit with my objectives. I would have to keep total creative control and I also would need to own my masters. The pros of signing with a major label would be more exposure linked to promo and marketing & a solid financial backing. It would also open the door to major networking opportunities. The cons could be, they could take away your voice or try and convince you to water down your art. It also could be a con due to the fact if you aren't moving the units like they would like… you could be "shelved" and end up being in debt with the label. I would rather stay Independent though, and if the opportunity came for a distribution or single deal…I would hop all over it lol.

Any last words?

Of course I would like to give a huge shoutout to all my supporters ! I cant get far without them. I also will like to give a big shoutout to my city Portsmouth (PTown), the whole 757 area and my state ..VA–Virginia..we up next !

A life long journey

Featured artist: essence – A life long journey

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist essence.

How did you decide to become an artist?

essence: I became an artist by truly finding myself . I found thru my life of gangs ,drugs , violence, Marine Corps and 2 failed marriages that I was always living for everyone one else and what they wanted me to be . I realized after being used and taken advantage of for so long that I wasn't being true to me and when I did – my true inner self is a artist . I make beats , rap , draw and tattoo . Being an artist is my whole existence. Even at 39

Be your self and don't apologize for it

essence

Primarily making tracks to put vocals down to . Previously has been a lot of instrumental electronic and trap , and hip hop beats. I'm currently looking to get into a studio to lay some vocals down and make some solid tracks

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I believe I would sign if the terms were right . It would be nice. to have financial backing for a project but I worry my creative input would suffer and possibly be controlled on what I should say etc

Soundcloud Rapper

Featured artist: Krys Kokaine – Soundcloud Rapper

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Krys Kokaine.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Krys Kokaine: music has always been a way for me to express myself . When I was younger I played many instruments including clarinet , piano , guitar and drums and I also sang and wrote poetry so growing up listening to rap made me want to express myself in that way . When I first started rapping it was just for fun but then people actually started listening and liking my music so that's when I started taking it more seriously .

The best advice given to me as an artist would be to accept constructive criticism and don't be afraid to express yourself . At first I would take the criticism negatively but it wasn't it actually helped meprogress as an artist and produce better material .

Krys Kokaine

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I've played live many times but not as a Rapper . I used to be in a metal band and we would travel and play shows every week , I never did it as a solo artist though and that's my dream .

Best punchline you ever wrote?

I rather my nose bleed just to see I'm alive cause my bloods just a spiritual path to survive so I die to get lyrical

Krys Kokaine

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I'm currently working on a self produced EP . I have released many single tracks along with self produced instrumentals but I have never released a full album .

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Yes and no it all depends . The pros to signing with a major record label would be that I definitely get my name out there and produced great tracks with great artist and producers . A con would be that I no longer would be a indie artist and I might have to make a lot of changes to myself including my originality and sound and that's not something I would want to do .

Any last words?

I want to give a shout out to Drayton Gold , the first artist who let me produce a track for him . I want to shoutout my brother Alex for getting my name and my music spread all across Spokane Washington . I wanna shoutout the 516 and the 845 . I'm in the middle of currently recording my first professional hip hop album I have made countless tracks under the name Dj Protolepsy but it was all Edm and I have made tracks with multiple artists Hollywood Smooth was the first Hip hop artist to ever put lyrics over one of my tracks and is now he is popping all over Dallas!

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Well I have an offer at the moment with Yo Gutta and his Label Guttagangmuzik I think that promotion wise it'll really help me out but in the long run I think that you do lose money off royalties and shows but in the end nothing's free so it doesn't really bother me.

Any last words?

Shoutouts to Jacob Liston, Blake Round, and Major Newhouse for investing their time and money into making me the man I am today!

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Rich Roman.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Rich Roman: After A Car Accident In 2015 Prevented Me From Playing Basketball Which Was The Reason Why I Initially Went To College I Was Out of A Hobby . After The Accident My Scholarship Was Taken Away Due To The Fact That I Was Unable To Play . In The Winter Of 2016 I Was Releasing Various Freestyles But It Was Not Turning Heads . In November Of 2016 I Returned With My Hit Single " Poppin ". Once I Seen It Doing Great Numbers , Making Mixtapes & The Impact From Performing It I Said I Was Going To Stick With Rapping.

The Best Advice I Was Giving As An Artist Was To Stay Consist , Stay Focused & To Never Give Up No Matter How Bad The Circumstances Get.
