Things to know about New independent Rap artist CHEFY

Featured artist: CHEFY – Things to know about New independent Rap artist CHEFY

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist CHEFY.

How did you decide to become an artist?

CHEFY: I became an artist at the age of 5 years old by learning my first rap from my dad who also rapped back in his time and had an nice run and since then I just been able to create music without even listening to it my best songs I create are created from only melody without an beat and I believe that is a blessing and acurse.

Best advice was giving to me by my dad that I can make it even by being independent but you will need a team a loyal one and get your own LLC and own studio equipment so you can record whenever you want and that's what is in the works now as we speak.

CHEFY

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Yes I have had on performance back in February but since then no but I can't wait until I perform once more and to do so I just bought me a new Jeep to get around and work more.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

No diseases or kids I been dodging bullets ain't no way that I'm tired of living

CHEFY

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I'm working on some newer singles no name for the project yet but now I have a mixtape on spinrilla called 1217 the link has kinda been messing up lately in the link in my bio on Instagram Only Chefy but most of my music yo can find on my YouTube Only Chefy check hem out please.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

By being independent you can have your own LLC your own label logo everything BUISNESS etc it so much you can grasp and get your own money instead of you singning and people eating you alive because they only care about theirs and have power over alot of what you do.

Any last words?

Yes to the city of Washington DC to my mom my cousins and friends I love with the bottom of my heart and going to grind for them always.

Where can we contact you?

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist AjTheKid.

How did you decide to become an artist?

AjTheKid: I always wanted to be a rapper. I loved Eminem and Tupac and of course loved attention especially with the woman. The Glamor definitely drew me in, but as a football player knowing how hard it is to go Pro becoming a sucessful rapper didn't seem realistic… Until my life had some crazy up and downs and after growing up in San Francisco, joining the u.s. marines ( with having a mother from iraq)… I moved to East Oakland because the city was too expensive and happened to be in a bad place a F'd in the head but writing poetry and before I knew it i met my favorote rapper "The Jacka" at work once and then realized he was hanging out close to where I lived in Oakland, we hung out a few times and became good friends and he was a good mentor, besides becoming great friends with other bay area artist Lil Rue who I also learned a lot fro, they helped me get my mind right and to turn my writings into music… I've been doing it ever since..

Make sure you have a plan. It's good to have a mentor… especially one that's experienced…. cover your ass… make sure everything you do is copyright'd and work with distribution companies but make sure if your going to release something… don't be anxious and release it too soon. Make sure you promote whatever your going to release at least for a few months…. but that's my opinion. Go do some research! Network. Master your craft, and never pay attention to the haters…

How did you decide to become an artist?

DJX: My first encounter with authentic Rap was Childish Gambino's 3005 record. After listening to that, I dived deep in the world of rap music. I listened to many artist, and one day I tripped up into HOPSIN, who I had realized started all of his recording on his own home. From there I built a studio and got to working on my music. It was dope.

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

Yes! I just finished my new project RESPECT: The Album. It's definitely something new and different that a lot of people are going to enjoy. It will be officially released on all major music distribution sites including Spotify, iTunes (and Apple Music), google play, and Tidal on June 17th! Be on the look out for RESPECT.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

It honestly depends on what they are offering, and what benefit I can reap from being on the label. The reason a label wants you is so that you can make THEM money, what is it that I would be loosing in order for them to give the exposure that id be seeking. Those are the things that truly matter.

New Boston Artist In The Making/Future Of Hip Hop?

Featured artist: SideShow – New Boston Artist In The Making/Future Of Hip Hop?

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist SideShow.

How did you decide to become an artist?

SideShow: When I was a little kid and saw my mother writing poetry in her book. I use to sneak it and see what she was writing and it was deep. About her marriage, abuse, depression, low self esteem and plenty more. But the poetry was so amazing that I begin writing like that and made me better in English, hip hop lyrics itself. I wanted to be more than a poet and a speaker, I wanted to be a rapper for the music. I want people to hear my stories that are real honest and trustworthy to look for.

My producing started when I was living in Charlotte NC and I was going to the bobcats area with my best friends Jason, Jordan and Johnathan,. Johnathan showed me how to produce that day and I was always addicted to producing.

Now I'm married with 3 children and I strive myself to be a rapper more for them. Their my love, my heart, my life and soul.

My best advice was don't give up, keep trying hard and fight for what you believe in and you will make it , your dreams will come true.

SideShow

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I performed at the Boston state house and even Harvard university. I performed at other colleges at well and a couple of open mics. Recently I haven't perform nowhere recently when I'm so busy as a father but hopefully I will start soon once I start getting a big buzz for my singles.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

These brothers bluffin, the bloody buckets im bullet bussin, im dashing ducking these dummy dummies can see destruction, ya monkeys much off my money muffin that mocha munchin, come and get it you should know my brain is sick with it.

SideShow

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I am currently working on my debut mixtape and still deciding on the title which will be, "Big Bully" or "The Life of Andre Victorian." .I'm also just trying to do alot of collaborations with other rappers and singers across the globe. And also working on other singles for myself which is "Family Buisness", "Dont matter to me", Unconcious", and Real and Reality. Im also producing as well.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I will only sign to a label if their willing to give me enough to get my family out the hood and get good taken care of really. My cons about signing a record contract is the percent and all that math stuff I don't like to get into. I don't care about the money I just want enough to take care of my family. It really has to do with trust me for to sign and for me to truly love the future with the contract. I would like to someday but sometimes I doubt myself that I never will. But I wont give up until I do.

Any last words?

I'm Representing Boston, Bean town, Dorchester, The love of the garden. I'm representing the love and respect from Boston and I'm trying my best to put the bean on the map.

Skilled Emcee

Featured artist: Chris Topher – Skilled Emcee

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Chris Topher.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Chris Topher: From the age of 4, I've been musically involved in a lot of different things, but it wasn't until I turned 10 that I decided to become an emcee. Eminem was the first lyricist I fell in love with because I could relate to his brokenness in his music that resonated loudly throughout my home. Since my father wasn't around and my mom was a destructive alcoholic, I had to witness a lot of abuse as a kid. Music opened up an avenue for me to express my feelings and release the hurt, anger, and disgust for my situation. Identifying the influential power it can have, I wanted to be a part of that and help rescue others from their plight; even if only for a moment.

I remember watching Jim Carrey give a commencement speech at Maharishi University of Management and he said something that resonated loudly in my heart and forever changed my approach to my career. He said that "…you can fail at what you don't want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love".

Chris Topher

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I've performed live countless of times at various venues ranging from schools and colleges all the way to churches and community events. I most recently made an appearance at a book signing event in May. I have a gig lined up for June, and in July I plan to have a full blown concert to celebrate the release of my finest work yet, Topher Town. I love being a great entertainer as much as being an artist so I like to incorporate a lot of live elements to my acts to really give the audience an unique experience.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Reminiscing when I used to have that tunnel vision; on a mission guided by nothing but my intuition; With precision, repetition, and hours worth of ammunition, I diminished; any hint or future ounce of criticism

Chris Topher

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I'm currently midway through my first official project/mixtape called "Topher Town". It will be between 8-10 songs with each one pushing my skills as a lyricist further and further beyond just the simple songs you hear today. Over the years, I have released singles but never a completed project. So, not only am I excited to be presenting my vigorous work, but everyone will be able to finally receive a project that's been long overdo. At the same time, I'm working on a second project called "Unchanged Minds" which is a series of cyphers with different artists locally to promote unity and inclusiveness that you don't see much of anymore. These are done once a month.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would sign with a major label if I felt really confident that they would have my best interests in mind. Right now, I enjoy the creative control I have over my career and music. It allows me to step outside the box and do things that's not necessarily textbook. Plus, I get more return on investment. At the same time, having the deep pockets a major label possess will increase the quantity and quality of materials I release. Also, having a big name back you gives you more leg to stand on when networking.

Any last words?

I will always represent Kilmichael, MS with everything I do. I like to give credit to everyone who has helped mold and shape me into the man you see today. I would like to give a very special shoutout to my family. They have always been supportive of my aspirations as an emcee, even when my music may have not been so promising. Now that I have a wife and a little girl, my ability to lead by example when following my dreams become much more crucial. I do not want to be a hypocrite.
