Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Yung Ro.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Yung Ro: My father owns a recording studio and Black Pearl Tattoo Gallery so I was exposed to music and art. With artist such as Nelly, Spice One ,… coming as patrons my interest grew to a passion for music. I got in the studio working with Grammy nominated producers like TrackBoyz, TrakStarz, Beastaz, and DaBizness. At the age of 15, I charted the Billboard Hip Hop singles chart at #3 with a single titled ”Donk Dat”.

Perfect my craft and good things will follow.

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I took a hiatus due to family problems. I had to step up and take over the tattoo business. Now at age 23, I want to pick the mic up again. Its hard to be away far so long when you are a fan and artist of music. I have two new projects a music video ”Can’t Take It No More” by Jiro featuring me and a club track named ”Gone Go” .

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

At the moment independent is becoming ideal especially if you want creative control. Its just formulating a strategy and treating it like a business. And like any business you have to invest.

Any last words?

St. Louis is where I rep and I love my city even with the drama thats surrounding it. Thanks for everybody supporting my new single ”Gone Go” produced by my little brothers Jiro and Mook Beast at Black Pearl Studios.
