Intelligent design the art of creativity

Featured artist: JonBlaQ – Intelligent design the art of creativity

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist JonBlaQ.

How did you decide to become an artist?

JonBlaQ: Was introduced to music by my parents at an early age , i remember my dad having me put together a song from a jackson 5 album for show and tell. As i got older i was always involved in church from singing to running the sound etc so music in some capacity was something i was just always around. Around the 6th 7 th grade i would always have melodies and song ideas in my head and would jot them down here or there and HipHop just drew me in. I took Mcing seriously in college after being in a couple singing groups i would still write rhymes for the songs and one day a friend asked me why i never took rapping seriously. From that point on it became my ”thing” and i have been grinding at perfecting the art of Mcing since now im working on my 5th project with my own studio and helping to mentor other artist.

The best advice i think i’ve ever been given was to never follow trends.

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I took a break for a year or so but i have shows lined up within the next month.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

i refuse to stop spitting like im chewing on glass

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I have two projects set for this year Broken Bars which is coming out March 31 2015, and im half way through the recording process for an album i hope to release at the end of the summer or early fall called Hell or HighWater

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would but thats not something im dying to do or even my goal. Of course the pros are the marketing dollars that are afforded to you to be able to get your product out in front of people. The cons to me at this time lables rarely invest the time to develop artists and everything is so ”single” driven. I understand that its a business but for it to work there needs to be a balance between me as the artist being able to be creative and being able to sell the music. In our current environment there is too much mimicing goin on and not enough creativity.
