hip-hop’s renaissance man

//

Featured artist: izreal – hip-hop’s renaissance man

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist izreal.

How did you decide to become an artist?

izreal: when I realized how powerful rappers voice could be I was instantly drawn to that. Not to mention the perks that come along with being a well-known rapper. I also liked the freedom that it allowed me to have as artists whatever you write is your truth and no one can criticize that in that moment did you create a song or beat.

the best advice that was given to me was from tech n9ne. He told me if a market for your music doesn’t exist create your own

izreal

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I’m a firm believer in quantity not quality. So I don’t do many shows but when I do you can believe they’re always going to a great quality show and a great experience for my audience.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

dick riders and lames/ get treated the same /for acting cavalier/ I bring the heat like James/ I go by IZ/ you just what’s his name/ I heard your last mixtape f****** lame!

izreal

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I am currently working on a new project this untitled now but should be out mid next year is going to be huge a lot of surprises on that album maybe even a famous guest appearance or so. Are released three albums this will be my 4th solo project and I feel my best today although my other projects or crazy hot steel and haven’t gotten the just duet they deserves

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

if the right situation came along you’d be a fool not to take it. Having a machine behind you is always great for the most part. One of my partners out west got signed to a major label only to be on the shelf for a couple years before getting cut and never really reaching his potential and he swears by independent companies now so I guess I’m 50 50. when it comes to that I’m on my Jerry Maguire show me the money

Any last words?

I want to send a shout out to Wichita Kansas, St Louis Missouri, San Diego California, Atlanta Georgia, Los Angeles, in New York City. These are the cities in general where I do a lot of business is it or where I have a lot of family yet so shout out to all those people there who support me.

Where can we contact you?

izreal: WWW.iz316.com

Thank you for your time. We wish you and your career the success it deserves.

Fresh Out The Grave

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Big Repa.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Big Repa: I used to write poems all the time. Then one day I heard the song f**k the police by N.W.A. and was hooked on rap. Even though the I love R&B more I was not blessed with a singing voice. Then one day my first partner asked me to freestyle with him and liked what he heard so we became Pound and Daddy Sam. We did a few songs together before I went through some things in my life and my partner who is also my cousin dubbed me Repa because of the beasts and lyrics I started doing.

The best advice I was given was to learn to start writing my lyrics. The second best advice was when I was taught how to count bars when doing music.

Mind of the Genius

//

Featured artist: Genius – Mind of the Genius

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Genius.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Genius: I’ve always had a passion for music. I would spend the majority of my time in school writing rhymes and most of my time at home spitting lyrics to myself. I always looked up to artists like Andre3000, Tupac, Nas, Eminem and a lot more. I never really let many people hear me back then. I didn’t want the lime light. One day a good friend of mine(APlus) was performing and asked me to just be on stage with hime. I saw how the crowd reacted to him and instantly I wanted that for myself. I started recording and going anywhere I could get a mic in my hand. I just want to make music that will inspire other people like the artists I mentioned inspired myself. I feel like I really have something to offer the game, more than just a hit single, and I ain’t stopping till they recognize me.

Just be you. The people want YOU, not what you think they want.

Genius

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I’ll get on any stage at any venue that will have me. I do it for the audience.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

”i’m a silverback and i hang with orangutans and a gang of apes” That would have to be my favorite.

Genius

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I’ve released multiple mixtapes with some fellow artists, but currently I’m working on an EP titled ”The Foundation”

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I’d sign with a major label, but only if the paper and conditions were right. There have been some great artists that got signed but got put on the back burner. You get help with distribution and you get a check, but only when they think it’s time for you to be on. If you got a hustler mentality and are willing to put in that work you can get that check on your own. Two Chainz was under DTP and most folks never heard of him until he got out of that and got into the right deal. Whereas Tech Nine been doing his thing independent and been getting bread. Everything that glitter ain’t gold.

Any last words?

I’d like to give a shoutout to my whole team at Thumbprint Ent.: Conzbruck, APlus, PeeWii, and TreyBoi Juice.
Warner Robins GA stand up!!! I put on for the 478 baby!!!

Hustle vs Hype, Prince Slay

//

Featured artist: Prince Slay – Hustle vs Hype, Prince Slay

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Prince Slay.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Prince Slay: I think I was born the natural ability to create music. I used to write lyrics and poems all the time during class in my girlfriend’s notebooks. I would always get in front of the class and rap or sing. I used to get major roles in plays because I was drama club, so being in front of people and learning to capture the moment just seemed like something I was good at. I think as an artist you never really decide that you want to be, it’s just something you go for. Music is an outlet to accomplish the things you want to do. When I think of all the reasons that maybe sound right, I get this picture of a beautiful girl singing her favorite playing on the radio. The vibe is this bright sunny day, like Aaliyah, Nicki Minaj experience. The first time I ever experienced that I was a kid listening to songs and this voice literally said, ”make your own music”.

I once tweeted, Slay_A1: ”Never get used to people admitting how great you are.”

Prince Slay

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Yes, I love being on stage and performing in front of all the fans. It’s like their World is centered on your biggest moment, and when you deliver at that highest level, it’s amazing to know that you took them to a place that only they know, because music has its effect on people in different ways. As an artist you’re like the curator, as light as that sounds. But the vibe you get from your fans is really worth all of moment.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

Gone In Like 60 Seconds, Yall Just 6th From 2nd! Watching Aaliyah Biopic; And If At First You Don’t Succeed, We Don’t Play That Shit!

Prince Slay

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I’m currently working on my New Mixtape, ”Ki”, which drops February 2015. The definition behind ”Ki” reaches back to my first demo, ”22”, which also just became available on Datpiff. I dropped ”22” and the feedback was really something. I didn’t release it until later via my social sites, and ReverbNation must have loved it, because I became the Number #1 Rap artist in Las Vegas. I woke up one day and my Ranking was Number #1 ”All Genres”. I was so happy! At the moment I was going through some rough times, and I wasn’t consistent in the studio like I needed to be. Hustling and trying to find myself seemed to occupy my time. I really needed to understand things that I had always kept in the back of my mind, yet now they seemed to surface more than ever. I finally made it clear in my World that I can’t be touched,. ”Ki” is a testiment to that fact! I know that I’m an amazing artist! I easily see myself above the ranks of the industry’s mainstream. I want to be successful. I’m always the best at anything I do and put my mind to. With that being said, I feel it’s time I impress myself.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I own Imnense Music so if I sign a deal, it I want to go through Universal or Sony. I always said that as an artist, I wanted to sign to Nicki Minaj. I really want to sign to Cash Money, YMCMB, Atlantic, MMG, Bad Boy, Def Jam, Roc Nation, Interscope, and OVO Sound. Alicia Keys has her own label as well, so Wow, there’s so many to choose from. I love Nicki Minaj, so she gets first bids.

Any last words?

I think if anyone deserves a shoutout, it’s my daughter, Charmisa Ayanna Harris. My real fans and followers know that I’ve been trying to find my little Princess because her Mom says she gave her away, told me not to make any social sites for the baby, then turned around and told told me the baby was living with her blocked me from her social sites, with no way of contacting her. I met with her dad aka uncle, and he said she never had a baby. I do have a pic that she gave me, and I have never seen the baby. So through it all, and I still got to do me, so I’m single. My daughter deserves to share in this success with me. I want those father, daughter moments, to hold her and see her smile. I know I’m going to be successful, and God knows all things, and everything happens for a reason. Also, I got to shout out my Mom, Ms. Mary Lotts Fletcher, who I’m so proud of because currently she is authoring her New Book and teaching school. I know she’s been through a lot, and I try not to have feelings, but she taught me to understand. Shoutout Imnense for being everything I could have asked for in a brand! Shoutout the life we hustle hard for. Play at this level.

I became apart of a group by the end of my sophomore year named ”Bone Deep” Constructed of Cazpa,SCK,JayP3,VC,Daymo and myself,DoughBoy was my name then. The group eventually broke up but my love for music and the feeling it gave me was just being born. By then i began going into KMG studios and friends house to get song recorded, practicing my flow and steadily crafting art.

Featured artist: Overlord Gruff – Fast-rising Westcoast Artist Overlord Gruff sits down for full interview

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Overlord Gruff.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Overlord Gruff: I used to freestyle and battle other artists in the military. Its a lot of talent in the Armed Forces. After a while, nobody wanted to battle me anymore so I started writing lyrics. After word got around that I wanted to record music, I had already embarrassed most established artists during my battles that they didn’t want to work with me. It was rough.

You gotta know you’ll be successful. Before everybody. You’re gonna lose weight, sleep, friends, but after the success because you will be successful, you’ll know you were right.
