The Nerd

Featured artist: Grae – The Nerd

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Grae.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Grae: I starting writing in 05’, constantly writing in book margins, class notes and couldnt find anyone who would produce for me or work with me, so i stared making my own beats during my downtime. I bought myself a 20 dollar mic and started releasing my songs on, getting feed back from different undergound artists that were more experienced then me. This day i am still putting out my work just looking for plays.

Fuck what everyone else says, you do you.

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I have played live as an opener and i also go into freestle battles

Best punchline you ever wrote?

A nerd with that sour spit, candy for your ears now devour it

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

My first mixtape, The Two Dollar Mixtape. I have released a couple of singles and some unfinished work.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

No. I feel you loose alot of your creative control. Making my type of music is fun and to be pushed to make what the label likes is like having a 9 to 5 all over again. The money sounds nice, but all in all i want to do what i want to do with no pressure.

Any last words?

I see you T-Will$, Gee Tang, Wrong Ideaz, and the whole dilligaf Crew. I’m reppin’ my home town, Tuba City.
